We are a small team of dedicated craftsmen based in the city centre of Hereford. We are passionate about creating unique furniture and joinery for specific spaces and individual tastes. We build Quality handmade furniture, kitchens & bedrooms using a combination of traditional and modern craft techniques and materials, we are able to offer a creative and dynamic range of bespoke furniture with a wide number of options, while ensuring high quality furniture that lasts for generations.

We provide a complete design-consultation-fitting service, specialising in bespoke furniture. Our cabinet makers & joiners are highly skilled craftsmen who have many years knowledge & experience designing and making high quality furniture built to last. Our portfolio includes fitted and free-standing furniture, traditional sliding sash windows, casement windows, doors, and stairs. Our workshop

Jonathan Nicholas Design uses a full array of modern machines and traditional tools in our Hereford workshop. The workshop includes a fully sealed finishing booth, essential for applying  a flawless hard wearing finish, whether oiling, hand painting, spray lacquering or spray painting.

We ensure as much as possible of our raw material is sourced sustainably, and our designs often include reclaimed materials. In addition to wood, we also work with glass and steel. We are also able to fabricate brackets or components for bespoke designs.

The craft process

Your furniture is designed and built by skilled craftsmen in our fully-equipped workshop. The benefits of modern precision machinery are married with traditional hand techniques to produce high-quality, beautiful, bespoke pieces to suit your requirements and budget.

The craft process begins with a personal consultation: an opportunity to establish what you want, and for us to suggest ideas. The consultation may involve a multi-faceted project – a full-scale renovation, for example – or it may involve one special piece. Either way, we do our utmost to ensure customer satisfaction, before, during, and after the job.

We create quality, elegant furniture which can be loved and lived in for generations. Our furniture proves that luxury and sustainability can be achieved together.

Jonathan Nicholas Design operate a ‘zero waste’ policy, which means we re-use or recycle 95% of material which would otherwise go to landfill. Our wood shavings and dust are compacted into briquettes which in turn provide heating for our workshop!
